Election Day Watch Party

The day we all have been waiting for!! #TeamIrene has been hard at work for well over a year, expanding who sees themselves in the story of the County and who sees themselves in the story of politics.

November 6th is election day and polls close at 8pm. We will be gathering to see the reports roll in, so come hang out! This may take awhile, so we will have music on and food to share. Separately, sodas and beers are available for purchase.

Countless people contributed to this movement, and we are so grateful. THANK YOU and come celebrate with us! All ages are welcome and everyone is invited.

Please reach out to info@voteirene.com with any questions. See you soon! #VoteIrene #LetsDoThis

Hennepin County Candidate Forum: Power, Pain, Politics and The Polls

Calling all Hennepin County Residents - Especially Black and Brown Folks! Come out to your Hennepin County Candidate forum to learn about the power of your vote when it comes to: Creating a just, caring and safe community in Hennepin County for everyone - regardless of race and class and supporting & welcoming immigrants in Hennepin County.

Two major focuses will be putting justice and community into the Criminal Justice System where black and brown people will no longer be criminalized through mass incarceration and disparity. We will also focus on getting ICE Out of Hennepin County as this is an institution that doesn't belong in our communities as the county should have clear priorities of keeping all of our families safe and together.

We can create a Hennepin county that works for all of us, white, Black, Brown, Indigenous, etc. This will only happen through transparent, accountable and inclusive involvement and relationships by all Hennepin County residents and our elected representatives. Join this process.

Hennepin County Sheriff: Dave Hutch and Rich Stanek
Hennepin County Attorney: Mike Freeman and Mark Haase

Jammin for Justice

The City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Park Board are redeveloping a 48-acre stretch of land on the North bank of the Mississippi, the largest remaining single-owner development opportunity along the River in Minneapolis.

This land, and the community surrounding it, have been plagued by polluting industries that have separated the people of North Minneapolis from the Mississippi River for decades.

It is time for a unified vision for the Upper Harbor—a vision rooted in community and equity, that doesn’t gentrify, that creates jobs for North Minneapolis residents, that provides green space and green business opportunities for the northside.

Join us on the 22nd to hear from environmental justice advocates about their vision for the Upper Harbor, and share your ideas for creating a just and sustainable development plan. There will be food, drink, music, and community!

PERFORMERS
Joe Davis & Friends—poet, activist, and spoken word artist
Tufawon—indigenous hip hop artist and water protector

Event sponsored by Project Sweetie Pie, Sierra Club, Climate Generation, Mississippi Mushrooms, Oz Technology Company GBC, Debbie Goettel, Clarence Bischoff, ØHunger, FarmMotion, Environmental Justice Coordinating Council, and Minneapolis Climate Action.
