Mary Kunesh-Podein Endorses Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner - District 2
Today, Minnesota Representative Mary Kunesh Podein, District 41B, announced her endorsement of Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2.
“I am proud to endorse Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2”, Kunesh-Podein said. “Irene has an amazing energy which she easily spreads to those around her. I’m excited about the future Irene envisions where kids grow up wanting to be a County Commissioner.
Irene, after receiving the news of the endorsement, said, “this endorsement is meaningful because Mary cares about transparency in the process. She champions equity and I look forward to working with her to inspire change by investing in future generations of leadership.”
Kunesh-Podein shared that sentiment in her statement, “I share her vision to make the County government more visible and accessible, and I look forward to working with Irene to increase equity and improve the lives of Minnesota residents.”
Irene Fernando, a Harrison neighborhood resident and University of Minnesota graduate, is a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. The co-founder of a youth leadership non-profit headquartered in Minneapolis, Irene is also a Bush Foundation Fellow and has taught social entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University. Currently, she works within a newer division at Thrivent leading around organizational design, culture, and talent. Irene continues to contribute to the community through multiple board and volunteer roles as well.
