Linda Higgins Endorses Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner - District 2

July 24, 2018 HENNEPIN COUNTY — Today, Linda Higgins, Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2 announced her endorsement of Irene Fernando to replace her as the Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2.

"I'm voting for Irene Fernando! Irene's life experiences prepare her to be a strong County Commissioner. She has held influential roles in organizations of all sizes, which equips her to advance the important work of Hennepin County. Irene is smart and pragmatic and will drive results. She will bring energy, perspective, and expertise to the board. I hope you will join me in voting for Irene."

Irene, after speaking with Linda, responded, "thank you, commissioner Higgins for your decades of service to our communities. I am beyond humbled to receive your endorsement. I look forward to advancing the priorities that will improve the lives of Hennepin County residents. My success is possible because of the work you've done and I will work hard to continue that progress."

Irene Fernando, a Harrison neighborhood resident and University of Minnesota graduate, is a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. The co-founder of a youth leadership non-profit headquartered in Minneapolis, Irene is also a Bush Foundation Fellow and has taught social entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University. Currently, she works at Thrivent leading around organizational design, culture, and talent. Irene continues to contribute to the community through multiple board and volunteer roles as well.
