Mike Freiberg Endorses Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner - District 2

July 19, 2018 HENNEPIN COUNTY — Today, Mike Freiberg, Minnesota Representative in District 45B announced his endorsement of Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2.

"I am happy to endorse Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. County government represents an imperative middle ground between city and state. Irene is someone who will ensure that this vital position continues to be productive and responsive to the needs of all residents."

Irene, upon learning of this endorsement, responded, “I am excited and honored to have received Mike Freiberg’s endorsement. He understands the value of responsive and responsible government, and I look forward to working with him to continue to improve the lives of all Hennepin County residents.”

Irene Fernando, a Harrison neighborhood resident and University of Minnesota graduate, is a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. The co-founder of a youth leadership non-profit headquartered in Minneapolis, Irene is also a Bush Foundation Fellow and has taught social entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University. Currently, she works at Thrivent leading around organizational design, culture, and talent. Irene continues to contribute to the community through multiple board and volunteer roles as well.
