North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner - District 2
September 7, 2018 - HENNEPIN COUNTY – Today the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters announced their endorsement of Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2.
Adam Duininck, Director of Government Affairs for the organization was quoted, “we are proud to support Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. Irene is a leader who prioritizes the rights of workers; her background and experience proves this. It is clear that, when elected, Irene will continue to advocate for workers at the County level, and the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters is excited and ready to stand with her in this effort."
Irene responded to the endorsement with the following statement, “receiving the endorsement of an organization that represents those that live and work in Hennepin County is always an honor. I am running to serve these workers and their families, and am looking forward to partnering with members of the council to create progress at the county level.”
Irene Fernando, a Harrison neighborhood resident and University of Minnesota graduate, is a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. The co-founder of a youth leadership non-profit headquartered in Minneapolis, Irene is also a Bush Foundation Fellow and has taught social entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University. Currently, she works at Thrivent leading around organizational design, culture, and talent. Irene continues to contribute to the community through multiple board and volunteer roles as well.
