Steve Fletcher Endorses Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner - District 2
August 24, 2018 - HENNEPIN COUNTY – Today Steve Fletcher, Minneapolis City Council Member in Ward 3, announced his endorsement of Irene Fernando for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2.
City Councilman Fletcher said, “it is obvious to everyone who meets Irene Fernando that she cares deeply about Hennepin County and its residents. She shares their energy, values their stories, and now, as a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2, is joining their fight to make this community a progressive and welcoming place for all people. Like myself, Irene is dedicated to improving housing, transit, and equity in Hennepin County and I am proud to endorse her in this effort.”
Irene Fernando responded, shortly after learning about the endorsement, "I am looking forward to working with elected officials like Steve to ensure county services work for the betterment of everyone. I truly appreciate the support ." Irene Fernando, a Harrison neighborhood resident and University of Minnesota graduate, is a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2. The co-founder of a youth leadership non-profit headquartered in Minneapolis, Irene is also a Bush Foundation Fellow and has taught social entrepreneurship at St. Mary’s University. Currently, she works at Thrivent leading around organizational design, culture, and talent. Irene continues to contribute to the community through multiple board and volunteer roles as well.
